John Reiter is originally from northern Virginia.  Some in Alabama would call him a Yankee, but he has been in Alabama since 1977 and most would call him a true southerner.  John began singing bass for the Lord in 1989 with the Dotson Family and in 1990 joined the Waylighters as their bass singer and sound man. 

In 1994 he became a DJ at WGTT radio, a Southern Gospel Station, located in Alabaster, Alabama. At first he worked part-time while attending the Unversity of Alabama and graduated with a degree in Telecommunication and Film in 1996. After graduation he worked at the station full time until October of 1999.
